EPISODE PREMIERE: August 12, 2007
The quest for faith and truth collide as Johnny (Anthony Michael Hall) is thrust into a murder investigation of a missing young woman.SYNOPSIS:
The night before the baptism of baby Hope, Johnny (Anthony Michael Hall) and Sarah (Nicole deBoer) have an awkward moment where they almost kiss. They both want to move their relationship forward, yet neither of them is willing to take the first step. Johnny is especially hesitant because of the guilt he feels about withholding his visions of Walt's death from her. During Hope's baptism the next day, the holy water triggers a distressing vision for Johnny and he's thrust into the investigation of a missing young woman. Johnny's subsequent visions reveal evidence pointing toward a newly ordained priest, Father Tony (Nick Baillie). As Johnny delves deeper into the mystery, he discovers that Father Brendan (Colin Fox) is hiding the young priest, who seems to be possessed by the devil or, as Johnny suspects, consumed with guilt.
Johnny and Father Brendan are relentless in their pursuit of justice and, along the way, are forced to examine the very nature of good and evil. After Johnny's vision reveals that the missing woman has been murdered, he leads the police to the location of her body. Sheriff Turner (Cara Buono) suspects the woman's husband is the culprit and takes him down to the station for questioning. During a break in the interrogation, she receives some unexpected evidence in her ongoing investigation of Walt. When she later questions Sarah about the new information, she inadvertently divulges Johnny's secret about Walt's death. Meanwhile, Johnny's visions take a different turn and the clues open up a new lead in the case. As the pieces fall into place, the truth comes to light and the murderer is apprehended. In the aftermath of the case, Johnny realizes that the only way to exorcise his own demons is to come clean with Sarah, and he heads home to tell her the truth about Walt, unaware that she already knows.
