Tess Doerner

Abducted: April 3, 1955 - Unknown
Returned: August 14, 2004 - Highland Beach, WA
Known Abilities: Can compel others to do as she wants

Tess Doerner (Summer Glau) is an original 4400 with the ability to compel other people to obey her commands. She has suffered from paranoid schizophrenia since she was a teenager and was committed to Abendson Psychiatric Hospital before vanishing on April 3, 1955. She was brought back with the 4400 in 2004, but because her schizophrenia persisted she was returned to Abendson after quarantine. There she compelled those around her to construct a tower-like communication device that awakened scientist and fellow patient Kevin Burkhoff from his own mental illness.

Thanks to medications to control her schizophrenia, Tess was able to return to the outside world. She used her ability to compel Diana Skouris to become an unwitting test subject for Burkhoff's promicin injections, and when this experiment was uncovered she helped Kevin escape from NTAC. They lived quietly as fugitives until Jordan Collier recruited them to join his movement. After Collier distributed promicin to the masses, Tess and Kevin joined him on the run. Her ability has been key to them eluding captivity.
