FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 13, 2007
HeatherHello, my name is Heather. I'm a 21-year-old English student and Iíve been hooked on The 4400 ever since 2004. Few television shows engage viewers to such a degree and invite so much theory and speculation.
Oftentimes an hour of television can pass and I can barely notice the screen. However itís different with The 4000. I find my thoughts randomly wandering to the series while waiting in between episodes. So many times I have been walking down the street and find myself wondering if the Baldwin/Farrell clan can ever reunite and be happy together, or how unfair it is that taking Promicin turns people into fugitives even though they can help the world, or if Shawn and Kyle have opposite stars, as life cannot seem to go well for one without something happening to the other. Maybe I read too much into things, but thatís how big of a fan I am.
I wish Promicin were real, because I would take it. The shot does have a chance of killing, but the show has demonstrated how necessary these abilities are to building a better future. Healing, empathy, detoxing the environment ó all of these are the sorts of miracles I would love to be able to work. However, I think if I did have a power I would want to be able to grow wings and fly.
There are the usual reasons of feeling the wind in my hair and being completely free and uninhibited, but more than that I really do think this could help the world, and in an even bigger way than rescuing kittens from trees. My physical appearance is really where my power would lie. I know growing wings would not actually make me an angel, but I would look really close, and just the look can inspire a slew of emotions. No matter what your beliefs, and even after people would realize Iím just a human, you cannot view something like that without a momentary rush of emotion. The sight of an angel could fill people with hope for a better world, fear that they have been living selfish lives, and just a general feeling of being part of something bigger than they are. In short, I would sort of be a mascot for everything the 4400 are supposed to stand for.
By the way, the wings would be retractable because otherwise I imagine it would be difficult to wear normal clothes. I'd have to get stuff specially tailored, and that's just plain inconvenient!
