FAN OF THE WEEK

FOR THE WEEK OF FEBRUARY 26, 2007

Our latest Monk Fan of the Week, Kimberly, only started watching Monk after a recent marathon, but is now a Monk fanatic. Here is her entry...

Kimberly B.

My first experience with Monk was a few months ago when my boyfriend and I caught the Sunday Monk Marathon. He said, "I think you'll like this show". Understatement of the year. Six hours and six episodes later, I was hooked.

I don't think it was in our Sunday plans to watch Monk all day but I could not stop. It was so entertaining and he is so love-able. All the characters were cast perfectly. Though, I still can't make up my mind if I love Sharona or Natalie better. But I do know that no one, absolutely no one else could play the role better than Tony Shalhoub. He is a genius.

Anyhow, since I got such a late start on a show that's been on for years, I appreciated the Monk marathon the following week, which I made my friend, Kelly, watch with me for 4 hours. She is now hooked as well.

Now of course I have the DVDs, which you can always find in my DVD player ready to be viewed (in order) and at ANY TIME OF THE DAY OR NIGHT. I'm hooked, I'm obsessed and there is no turning back.

I'm pretty excited that you brought back the Monk bobble-head doll. I ordered 2, of course, and eagerly await its arrival so that I can have an excuse to talk about Monk when I display it on my desk. I talk about with anyone who will listen. I'm a walking Monk Infomercial. I apologize to my friends in advance for the millionth Monk reference or the excitement in my voice when I'm telling them about a Monk episode.

I think it's pretty hard to pick my favorite Monk episode; they are all SO good, so clever and SO SO SO funny. I really enjoyed "Monk and the Red-Headed Stranger." Especially at the end when he is playing the clarinet with Willie Nelson at Trudy's grave. That was unbelievable. I immediately sent my boyfriend a text message saying, "I found my favorite Monk episode!" But then there's the "Monk and the Garbage Strike" and "Monk and the Big Game"...I can't chose. I love them ALL!

I blame my boyfriend for this obsession. And I told him, "you've created a monster" and he said "no, I've created a Monkster." And he's right!

Thank you.

Kimberly B.
