Kate is mediating a negligence complaint when a surprise witness pits her and Ben against Justin and District Attorney Davidson.
Determined to do right by new client Cassandre-a nurse accused of negligence and facing deportation-Kate digs deeper into the case between a retirement facility and one of its residents, and discovers something surprising: an accused eco-terrorist who has been on the run for 20 years.
The terrorist-turned-soccer mom, Natalie Roberts, witnessed the accident Cassandre is accused of causing, and could clear the nurse's name by coming forward. The only problem is, if she does that the world will learn that she's actually Christie Mae Larssen, an eco-warrior once involved in a bombing. Though she's now a law-abiding mother of two, Larssen is still a wanted woman, and Kate is legally obligated to turn her in. To keep herself out of jail-and get both Cassandre and Christie-cum-Natalie a fair shake-Kate will need a miracle. Or at least a lot of help from Justin and Ben.
Complicating matters further, an ex of Ben's has turned up as part of the retirement home case, and she'd love nothing more than to see him-and the new object of his affection, Kate-go down in flames. Which, incidentally, is precisely where Kate and Ben's romance seems to be headed now that she's stood him up and ostensibly chosen Justin instead...
